Watch as my mom, Kaye Israel, puts the finishing touches on her burekas. As she always says, you taste with your eyes first. Give it a try with your next batch.

My grandmother came from Istanbul to Lima Peru.
She used to finish them like this.Made them stuffed with cheese and potato, also with eggplant.
Do you have a recipe for pishkado en agristada?

Thank you for your comment, Jaime. I’ve been thinking about agristada since I saw your comment this morning. With fresh homemade bread to ׳untar’ (to scoop up the sauce)! I’m attaching this recipe from online by Roni Penso. This is the kind of agristada my mom makes. Hope you enjoy it! https://www.google.com/amp/s/ronitpenso.wordpress.com/2016/04/03/fried-fish-with-agristada-sephardic-lemon-and-egg-sauce/amp/

Thanks!
Will make it and use halibut.
I like the fish cooked in water with lemon, salt, pepper and a couple of tablespoons of oil.

Makes me think of the many times I watched my mother-in-law, Rashel Chaprut (of blessed memory) as she prepared her weekly batch of burekas. Thank you!

Hello, Benny and Sarah. We are so happy to hear from you💞. My mother, Kaye and I are always happy to see your photos and hear about you via the photos that your son Jack posts on Facebook.
We remember meeting in LA and my mom has fond recollections of growing up near Sarah as children near 55th and Hoover.
We wish you blessings for a healthy and sweet New Year. Anyada Buena.
